The area you usually meet Laharu at is looking quite green today. It looks like the plants are growing back without the constant grazing from prey. A chilly breeze makes you happy to smell something fresh, other than the usual rot and decay. You wait a little bit, until your eye spots movement from under the fallen tree. You have not seen him there at all before - he must be quite skilful at remaining hidden from lions during their average encounters. He waits quietly for you to approach him; perhaps there's danger nearby, but with you by his side, why would he be worried?

You try to ask him what's wrong, but he shushes you nervously. You lower your head below the dry grass and give him a confused look. "Something is killing all the prey, [NAME]. It moves like locust, devouring everything in its path, leaving just bare bones and waste behind. I am not saying it might be a giant meat-eating locust, but... it might be a giant meat-eating locust," he whimpers with a serious tone.

Laharu points up towards the sky with his dark, frowned nose. "I followed the vultures. They seem to be moving in many directions, but the truth is, at night, they only follow one path: the same chaotic path that brings devastation. It seems to be growing numbers, JUST like locust. Go north from here, follow the nearby valley on its left slope, and explore. Maybe you will find more clues. I think you will have more luck than I did." He sighs and looks at you with his eyebrows narrowing. He has expectations.

Laharu grunts. "Obviously, you're a giant lion, while I'm a small striped hyena. I'm terrified to follow the path of an animal-devouring locust thing. I might go with you some other day, when we're sure it's not giant flying insects, okay? I'll stay here, and you can just... explore around. See if you find more clues every day. We can't go to war unprepared." You nod slowly; maybe he has a point. It'd be safer if you just carry on and see if you can find more clues while exploring around.
