Sometimes, during breeding, the genes of a cub get a little messed up! What comes afterwards can be a wild card. Mutations randomly occur when breeding a lioness. Although lower fertility levels are more likely to produce a mutation naturally, they can be produced from a lioness of any fertility level. Even then, some mutations are more debilitating than others, while some mutations are more common. As a general rule, lethal mutations and hybrids tend to be quite rare.
Types of Mutations
Adult Mutations
Is your cub a late bloomer? Sometimes cubs have mutations but they have to grow into them. Will a lady get some extra fabulous hair? Or will your little sub male end up...naked?!
Hybrids
Hybrids? Say WHAT?! That's right, your ladies aren't as loyal as you think. They might sneak off to have a tryst with a leopard or a tiger. If this happens, you'll end up with one of these:
Leopons
Leopons are the hybrid offspring of a leopard father and a lion mother.
Tigons
Tigons are the hybrid offspring of a tiger father and a lion mother.
Lethal Mutations
Sad, but true lethal mutations occur. But don't worry! Some of them are actually pretty cute...and if you have the right items, they can stick around your pride forever!
Patches and Piebalds
Wait...isn't this LIOden, not COWden? They may look like cows at first but they definitely don't moo. They also have rather sharp teeth for cows. Looks like they're just lions that THINK they're cows...
Primals
Is your lion a fossil? Well, maybe not, but they sure look prehistoric! The big, burly primal look is "in" and the plain old lion look is "out"!
Visible Mutations
Can you see me? Check out all the mutations that you can see with those big lion eyes of yours!
