Oh no! With prey scarce this season, it looks like a Great Hunger is sweeping the plains of Lioden. Several lions in the area have noticed the benefit of working together, and have begun stockpiling a massive food pit that they plan to share with everyone. Join together, lions, and donate your spare food from your hoard to unlock a special area that will let you reap the benefits! Give and ye' shall receive...
Other animals are suffering too - maybe you could help them die out to have more food to yourself? Defeat Carrion Eaters in explore to unlock a shop and more events in explore as you go on!
Event Information
This event is highly focused on exploring.
The explore encounters exclusive to this month can be found in all biomes.
Your lion's karma and level, as well as the biome you explore in, do not matter for this event.
In January, the community is working to unlock two separate bars, which reveal three different areas on the site.
The more carcasses are donated, the faster the Food Pit is unlocked.
The more Carrion Eaters are defeated in Explore, the faster the Carrion Shop is unlocked.
The Boneyard is unlocked by the combined bars of the other two areas.
This month's currencies are Leather Beetles and Silver Beetles.
Leather Beetles and Silver Beetles can both be gained in Explore. Silver Beetles can also be earned in various ways around the site, including playing games and selling items.
The January event launches on January 1st at 12am Lioden time and will end on January 31st at 11:59pm Lioden time. All unused event currency will be stored on your account until the next year.
Reptile Roundup
The Kaokoveld level (and its matching Zebra Spitting Cobra skin) can be unlocked by collecting 700 Carrion Eaters Points in Explore this month.
Visit the Reptile Roundup page to see what prizes you can receive from this level.

A few seconds later, you're sinking your fangs into delicious meat. | +1 Leather Beetle +4 Carrion Eaters Points +1 Zebra Carcass |
You jump into the river after the herd and focus on your chosen zebra: the weakling. You spot an injured, limping caracal, and wonder if it got into a fight with a hyena. You're not sure how serious the injury is. There's a possibility it has a chance to heal quickly, but it could also be a broken bone... | ||
---|---|---|

You start to explain that you're unsure how to help the creature, and you don't know anything about medicine, but the caracal gently interrupts you. You agree to escort them without hesitation, allowing the feline to lean on you when necessary during your journey. Attack | The laws of nature are strict, and there's no time for compassion if one wants to survive. Food Pit
Welcome to the Food Pile.. This area is a special place where you may feed once a day per lion and lose hunger! The current hunger taken is -#% per lion. This will increase if you unlock this area at the next level!
The Food Pit is opened by donating food items during January—one point per one use of food donated. Here, you can feed each of your lions once per day. The amount of hunger filled depends on what tier is currently unlocked for the Food Pit.
Tier One fills 20% Hunger.
Tier Two fills 40% Hunger.
Tier Three fills 60% Hunger.
If you have the "Feed All, Play All" tool, there is a "Feed All!" button that will fill the hunger for all lions within your pride. If you do not have this tool, you will need to feed each lion individually by clicking the "Let's Eat!" button.
If you'd like to donate food to the Food Pit, first navigate to your Hoard. You can either select an individual carcass...
... Or a stack of carcasses...
If you want to donate an individual food item, click the "Deposit Into The Food Pit!" button. To donate a stack of food, click the "Donate Whole Stack" button. When you click to donate, you'll receive the following popup message.
Keep in mind that you do not need to donate food items in order to use the Food Pit. The Food Pit is available for every player to use.
Carrion Shop
A big group - counting over one hundred - of chimps is gathering all food possible to spread among the starving animals. "The herds are migrating, the times are harsh. You're the strongest carnivore in Africa, by donating to our cause, we'll give you something in return!"
The Carrion Shop is one of two event shops for January. This shop is opened by defeating NPCs and earning Carrion Eaters Points in Explore. Everything in this shop costs Silver Beetles.
The Boneyard
Barren and dark with dried bones scattered around, the Boneyard gives you a chill as you step onto the dead earth. You spot a male lion digging around in a corner, surrounded by bones. Another male arrives behind you, carrying a skull in his enormous teeth. You've come to see what this new place has to offer.. perhaps you'll find something worth your time here.
You can create new offers for yourself by taking one of the following actions. You can dig around in the Boneyard to try and find items to purchase, or donate some of your skulls and bones towards the same cause. There may be a chance of slightly different items with each action...
The Boneyard is one of two event shops for January. This shop is opened by unlocking the bars for the Carrion Shop and Food Pit to their next tiers. Tier One of both the Carrion Shop and Food Pit will open Tier One of The Boneyard, and so on. With each tier of The Boneyard that is unlocked, more items will be added to its rotation. Some items will appear from the very start and do not depend upon tiers, while others only show up when their respective tier is unlocked!
This shop operates by Digging Around or Donating 5 Skulls. Digging takes -2% Energy per attempt, while donating removes 5 random skull/bone items from your hoard. Once you dig or donate, the items that are shown for you to purchase will be available until you dig or donate again. This means that you can safely navigate away from The Boneyard without worrying that your selection of items be reset. You must intentionally choose to dig or donate to view more items.
The following items are always available and are not dependent upon a tier opening.
