So, you've probably noticed earthquakes shaking the ground in Explore during the entire May event. An ancient Egyptian rebellious deity, the Serpent of Chaos, has been waking up and is now ready to emerge! Start your storyline, which is located on the EVENT page, and the earthquakes will stop. If you do not wish to start the storyline, the earthquakes will remain for you, as the Serpent will not rise.
Event Information
This event is highly focused on exploring.
The explore encounters exclusive to this month can be found in all biomes.
Your lion's karma and level, as well as the biome you explore in, do not matter for this event.
There are no bars to unlock during this event. Rather, this event is focused on a storyline that unlocks on certain dates. This storyline is foreshadowed by the earthquake explore flavour text encountered during May's event. If you choose to start the June storyline, the earthquakes will stop. If you do not start the storyline, you will continue to encounter the earthquakes, as well as typical year-round explore options.
This month's currency is 
Khepri Beetles.
Khepri Beetles can be gained in Explore by battling Chthonic Snakes with your battle buddy, which is a feature that unlocks in Chapter 2 of the storyline.
Battle Buddies
Once you have progressed through Chapter 2 of the storyline, the Egyptian God (deity) that you have aligned with will aid you whilst battling Chthonic Snakes. All deities have their own unique boosts that will help you in these battles. Please note that your battle buddy will not help you against regular NPCs. They will only assist you with battling Chthonic Snakes.

When your battle buddy is activated, each successful battle against a Chthonic Snake will reward you with +2 Khepri Beetles, along with the +1 Chaos Snake Scale you would normally earn. In addition to this, your battle buddy will slightly change how the Explore page displays for you by adding a themed frame around the biome you are exploring in. As a disclaimer, your battle buddy will not change your pride leader's eye colour in Explore—this was an aesthetic choice for the mockups presented.

For defeating at least 100 Chthonic Snakes during the month of June, you will unlock The Chasm level and Chaos Snake skin in Reptile Roundup! This number carries over throughout the years, so if you do not defeat 100 Chthonic Snakes one year, you can continue from where you left off the next year.

Non-Storyline
As stated above, if you do not start the June storyline, May's earthquake explore flavour text encounters will continue on throughout the month. Starting the storyline will stop the earthquakes, as it means the Serpent has awoken. The earthquake flavour texts are as follows.

Storyline
The June storyline encounters are unique from any other event's encounters, due to the fact that all encounters are essentially the same—the only difference is the NPC you come across. Because of this unique factor, this page's event encounter section will differ from other pages. You will see a mockup of the only types of event encounters June has to offer, along with NPC previews to show all the Chthonic Snakes you are able to battle during this month.

Winning a battle against a Chthonic Snake will always award you with a Chaos Snake Scale, which can be transferred directly into currency called "Chaos Scales 
" that can be used for purchasing applicators, backgrounds, and decors from the Forbidden Temple. Once Chapter 2 of the storyline is open and you have unlocked the battle buddy feature, these battles will also award you with +2 Khepri Beetles.
The Bind option will only display within Chthonic Snake encounters if you are on a quest to fill a deity's Ankh with Slithering Essence. Once you have bound enough Chthonic Snakes and you are no longer on this quest, the Bind option disappears.

Forbidden Temple
On your side of the rift there is one more temple, far from the others and much more easily accessible. With its entrance caved in, you nearly missed it among all the rubble. You find an opening just big enough for you to squeeze through and satisfy your feline curiosity.
Once inside, amid all the many harmless local snakes slithering about, you find a different kind of Ushabti residing here. They resemble a hybrid between a human and a serpent. When you approach the Ushabti, they become animated.
It appears they are interested in reclaiming all of the Chaos Snake Scales that have been dispersed through the lands. In return, they offer an assortment of trinkets they have stashed away in half-buried chambers.
In order to purchase items from the Forbidden Temple, you will need to convert your on-hand Chaos Snake Scales into Chaos Scales via a special button below the description of the Forbidden Temple. Doing so will turn the items into a non-transferable currency exclusively used in the Forbidden Temple; each Chaos Scale equals one (1) Chaos Snake Scale.
