So, you've probably noticed earthquakes shaking the ground in Explore during the entire May event. An ancient Egyptian rebellious deity, the Serpent of Chaos, has been waking up and is now ready to emerge! Start your storyline and the earthquakes will stop. If you do not wish to start the storyline, the earthquakes will remain for you, as the Serpent will not rise.
Event Information
This event has no Event Bars - instead, it is focused on the Storyline, which can be found on the EVENT page.
The currency for this month is the 
Khepri Beetle.
They can be found during battles if fought with your Battle Buddy (Chapter 2 of the Storyline) against the Chthonic Snakes.
Chaos Snake Scales will craft into any of the Chaos Snake Decors under the Monkey Business crafting page. As of 2019, they can also be crafted into other decors, like "Temple of the Slithering God" background!
Additionally, defeating at least 100 Chthonic Snakes will let you unlock an additional level at the Reptile Roundup mini-game!
Explore Encounters
If you have not yet begun the June storyline, May's earthquake encounter texts will continue throughout the month. Beginning the storyline will stop the earthquake encounters, as the Serpent has awoken.
Winning a battle will reward you with a Chaos Snake Scale. If your Battle Buddy is present, you will also receive 2 Khepri Beetles.
The Bind option will only show if you are on a daily quest to fill the Ankh with slithering essence. You use the incense to bind the Chthonic Beast, and gather its energy into the Ankh.

Battle Buddies
Once you've progressed through Chapter 2 of the storyline, the Egyptian God that you have aligned with will aid you while battling the Chaos Snakes. All deities have their own unique boosts that will help you in such battles.

When your Battle Buddy is activated, each successful battle against the Chaos Snakes will reward you with +2 Khepri Beetles and a

Please note that your Battle Buddy will not help you against regular foes. They will only help you with the Chaos Snakes.
Additionally, once your Battle Buddy is present, they will change how the Explore page looks for you. The Egyptian Deities and their respective frame previews are provided below.

Event Shop
A clay servant is ready to exchange the temple's wares for your Khepri Beetles. The Ushabti seems to come to life only when you approach them, along with a big golem guardian behind them, which seems to be protecting the Ushabti from threats - whether they be tomb robbers, chthonic snakes, or rowdy lions..
